Village Board Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, February 11, 2025

Plan Commission:

Utility:

• Storage capacity study – n/a
• Utility operations: Well #1 & #2 Upgrades – n/a
• There was a water main break on George St. that was discovered the week of February 3, 2025. Staff posted a message on the Amherst, WI Forum Facebook page. A local resident pointed out water pooling on George St. WRWA helped staff locate the break. Staff did not use the assistance of Bob’s Plumbing for this break, the repair went well. This is the 2^nd water main break this year.
• Had another company come into the village hall that said they could paint the water tower for $10,000-$15,000 less than the quote from Lane Tank. It was decided to stay with the original quote from Lane Tank as the village has worked with them for years.
• Continue to work on water meter replacements in quadrant #2.
• The VFD fan is continuing to work in Well #1. Did order a new replacement but won’t arrive till mid-March.

Safety:

• Junked vehicles at 378 N. Main St. – Crubaugh contacted the village resident who complained about the junked vehicles at 378 N. Main St. to let know that we have reached out to the owner of the property asking them to clean up the junked vehicles but have not received a response from the property owner. May send letter to property owner after speaking to Attorney Villnow.
• The tenant at 135 School St. is doing vehicle repair work at their home. Crubaugh drafted a letter to the property owner telling him that he needs to let the tenant know that is not allowed. Sent it to Attorney Villnow for his review.

Administrative:

• Amplified sound/music ordinance – need to review village ordinances because the Jensen Center has asked what the cutoff time is for music on their new outdoor patio.
• Currently, the Jensen Center is using the guidelines of the beer garden but need to find a better fit.
• Public Testing for the February 18, 2025, Spring Primary is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 3pm.

Public Works:

• Freddie’s Home Plate update: The Softball Association had a brat fry this past weekend using the new concession stand and everything went well. Roberts is working on interpretive signage with UWSP students. Roberts would also like to get the plants ordered. Waiting on final budget #’s for the kayak launch. Roberts will attend the next Parks meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 6-7pm.
• Greenwood Cemetery acquisition – no new update
• Potential business park future road – Per Laurie Jakusz, the access road that has been considered is not necessary. Her biggest need is the new sidewalk be on her side of Washington St and needs to go to the crosswalk on Washington St. There is another business looking to purchase land in the business park. This is very preliminary. Look to have the sidewalk budgeted for 2026.

Tree Board:

• Planning to meet in the next couple of weeks

Library:

• Recently held elections, Chris Hodges will be Vice President, Diana Bohman will be Secretary and Carla Struble will be Treasurer.

Fire District:

• Next meeting will be Monday, February 17, 2025.
