Freddie’s Home Plate Update
We reviewed budget summaries from Jodi (Clerk/Treasurer) and Lindsay (Point of Beginning). Although the summaries do not agree on final bottom line number, both show that the project has not yet spent all of the money donated and/or budgeted for the project. Becky agreed to review and reconcile the summaries.
We discussed pieces of Freddie’s Home Plate project that are not yet completed including:
Hand railings – these are a donation and should be installed this spring. Travis will follow up.
Installation of flag pole which will likely be a donation from the Orsund Foundation in memory of Tom Orsund. Some type of plaque or recognition would be a part of the installation.
There is a portion of sidewalk that needs to be repoured. Village staff will do the work, but there will be cost of materials.
Infield rehab will be covered by excess from 2024 Park Budget.
Per our concessions agreement, the village is still responsible for installation of three stainless steel food grade work surfaces, each to be 30″ long by 24″ deep.
DNR Waters Grant Remaining Pieces
Becky talked us through the remaining pieces and suggested timeline.
Paddle launch is the smallest piece. We will do this last as status of funds will determine what kind of launch we can put in and how much improvement we can do to the riprap near the installation site.
Riverfront Walk – we budgeted for 20 signs. Becky has students working on content for some of the signs. Becky agreed to reach out to the library to discuss storywalk portion of walk. We discussed trail concerns including spongey areas beyond right field and behind the Marzall property.
Native plantings – this is park of another grant as well and needs to start soon. Plan was for three areas of native wildlife plantings with one behind the Library and two more at the two ends of the Marzall property. Becky will order plants.
Regional Bike Hub – this was planned to be located where the old bathrooms are now housed. This building is in disrepair, but is still used for storage. Travis will work with staff to come up with ideas for what portions of building may be saved or for how we can design the Bike Hub to allow for a storage building to be put up in this location in the future.
Exit Becky Roberts at 6:38 PM.
Parks Survey
We reviewed that latest survey results. These results do not indicate overwhelming support for any new park features. 70% of respondents were from outside of the Village.
Public Space Use Permit
We discussed changes to this document. Pat will input changes and forward to Dave for review. If Dave agrees with changes made, the document will be used going forward.
Next Meeting
The committee will meet again on April 16 from 6 to 7 pm. Agenda will include Freddie’s Home Plate update and discussion of DNR grant remaining pieces. Other Park related agenda items may be added.
RS/BR motion to adjourn at 7:00 PM.
