SPRING ELECTIONS 2027: The Village of Amherst has been a place of growth and progress, with village trustees working with our staff and our residents to address the opportunities and challenges encountered. We look to the talents, experiences and ideas of our neighbors who offer to serve in public office for a two-year term to help guide our community. We need to encourage our neighbors here within the village to consider running for a position on the Village Board. April 2027 nomination papers for village office can be picked up at the Village Hall, with the circulation of candidate papers beginning December 1, 2026 and closing January 5, 2027. Whether considering candidacy or not, residents can always contact current village trustees Chris Hodges, Bob Rausch, Becky Roberts, Pat Strelitzer, Rich Stuczynski, Brian Swan or Village President, Dave Crubaugh to get information regarding current projects and plans. Clerk Jodi Patoka can provide information on the nomination process and schedule. All voting-age residents need to consider sharing their vision and their talents to make a difference in the Village of Amherst.

LOOKING AHEAD TO APRIL 2027 FOR OUR NEXT VILLAGE PRESIDENT: Dave Crubaugh has served on the village board since 2017 starting out as a Village Trustee. In 2023, he was elected as Village President. The time has come for Dave to step down with his term ending in April 2027. Since the nomination process for the 2027 spring elections begins in November, it is important for us to think about handing the gavel over to our next Village President. Therefore, we are asking fellow residents, to explore the talent, experience, and spirit of leadership found within our village, and then to strongly encourage candidates to step forward to serve on the Village Board as our next Village President. Consider Dave to be a resource to those considering this position supporting their efforts to build upon the 127 years of growth and progress that is indicative of the Village of Amherst.

PAST DUE UTILITY BALANCES: As a reminder, all past due balances are due by November 15th or they are subject to a 10% penalty and will be placed on the tax roll per Wisconsin statues. If your property is a rental property, both the landlord and tenant will receive notice. Contact the Village Hall at 715-824-5613 to verify amounts due by November 15th.

PAVING WORK BEING DONE IN NELSON PARK AND GREENWOOD CEMETERY: You may have noticed some construction work being done in Nelson Park! The week of September 28, 2026, crews from Stuczynski Trucking and American Asphalt have been tearing up the old asphalt parking lot in Nelson Park. A fresh coat of asphalt will soon be installed. Crews will then move to Greenwood Cemetery and pave the four roads in the cemetery that are currently gravel.

DIRECT WITHDRAWAL OF VILLAGE UTILITY PAYMENTS: Those village residents who have an account with the International Bank of Amherst are able to schedule the direct monthly payment of their village utility billings through the village clerk. To take advantage of this convenient payment method, contact the Village Hall at 715-824-5613 to make the necessary arrangements.

WOULD YOU PREFER TO HAVE YOUR MONTHLY UTILITY BILL EMAILED TO YOU?: You can have your monthly utility bill sent to you via email instead of regular mail. If this is something you would like to sign up for, call the Village Hall at 715-824-5613 or email clerk@villageofamherst.wi.gov with your request. Don’t worry, if there is a newsletter, you will receive it via email as well, so you won’t miss out!
