CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 2pm by Chairperson Strelitzer.
PRESENT: Pat Strelitzer, Bob Rausch, Rich Stuczynski
ALSO PRESENT: Don Spierings, Town of Amherst Chairman, Travis Stuczynski, Dale Peterson, Nic Lea, Brian Swan & Dave Crubaugh.
MEET WITH TOWN OF AMHERST REGARDING USE OF OUR BRUSH PILE LOCATED NEAR THE TREATMENT PLANT: Discussion with Spierings concerning closure of the Town of Amherst citizen accessible brush pile. Town allowed Village of Amherst Jct. and Village of Nelsonville access to their brush pile at a fee of $600 and $400 respectively. Both paid last year, but Village of Amherst Jct. refuses to pay in 2025. Village of Amherst has burned our brush pile in the past, but Rich Stuczynski expressed concerns of legality. Travis Stuczynski recommended that an ordinance be established with a penalty phase for those who illegally dump at the village site.
After further discussion, Spierings state the town is willing to pay the village $3,000 to allow their residents to use the village site. The consensus of the committee as that, if the town site is closed, it is likely that some town residents will use the village site, so the village should accept payment.
M/S Strelitzer/Rausch recommend acceptance of the Town of Amherst payment of $3,000 for the period of 1 year, May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. Ayes all. M/C.
Strelitzer will formulate a formal written agreement. Village of Amherst will reach out to the Villages of Amherst Jct. and Nelsonville and offer to accept their residents brush at the same fees as they paid the Town of Amherst in 2024.
The Village of Amherst will also establish ordinance language with penalty phase. Tree jobbers will not be allowed to use the brush dump even if they are working in one of the eligible municipalities.
Meeting adjourned at 2:40pm.
Respectfully,
Dave Crubaugh
